Our Beliefs - Heartlands Church

“Jesus came to give life and life in abundance” John 10:10

We believe that Jesus is the only answer to all of life’s questions and to what happens to us after life.

John 3:16 “For God loved the world so much that He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

We believe that lives are challenged, healed, restored and forever changed by the preaching of God’s Word and by the presence of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that miracles and healings are a natural and normal part of the Christian life. Matthew 11:5 “The blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor. God blesses those who are not offended by Me.”

We believe that Jesus is our Saviour, Healer and Deliverer, taking us from a place of bondage and brokenness into freedom and healing.

Colossians 1:13 “For He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins”. Isaiah 61:1 “..to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed”.

We believe in the inerrancy and authority of God’s Word.

2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.”

We believe in the importance of prayer, both privately and corporately.

Ephesians 6:18 “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”

We believe in the importance of the church as a family where strong relationships are formed as people spend time together, sharing dreams, hopes, pain and disappointment.

Acts 2:42 “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals, and to prayer”.

We believe that the church not only reaches its community but also impacts the nations of the world.

Acts 1:8 “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

We believe in the New Testament pattern of church leadership which comprises of elders and deacons, with the understanding that leaders are to be servant-leaders of the body of Christ.

Mark 10:42 “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else”.
